Bachelor of Design in Architecture
UTS School of Architecture offers a three-year undergraduate course in architectural design. A non-disciplinary first year shared with landscape architecture students The course introduces students to the basic principles of architectural design, representational tools of all kinds from digital media to model-making, and the history of significant buildings and theoretical constructs. Every semester, students participate in an intensive architecture studio, the centrepiece of the educational experience, in which they tackle architectural problems of every type and scale from spatial interventions to large buildings. Studio challenges the student to think critically and creatively, to question every aspect of the way we live in order to re-imagine our world. UTS has a special focus on urban issues, not only because the university’s campus is located in the heart of Sydney, but because the world is rapidly becoming more urban so that many of our most pressing, wickedly complicated design problems relate to urban environments, which makes the city fertile ground for invention.
