The publication contains seven proposals that expand the Robb College dining hall to accommodate the GAO’s revamped, ambitious, stylish and daring regional headquarters. The rebirth of the GAO is a rare occurrence in the highly privatized environment of NSW. It has the unique potential to redefine architecture at large. The projects deal with this latent potential through various modes of design. They will by no means rejuvenate the building. Rather, they will open discussions about preservation, working environments, notions of publicness, and what public-corporate architecture could mean in contemporary times.
The studio’s seven projects were developed from student’s homes in the autumn of 2020 for the University of Technology Sydney. The project authors are: Billy McQueenie & Nyoah Rosmarin, Ngoc Nguyen & Saqif Shadman, Christopher Kerr, Daniel Edwards & Levi Fletcher, Jordan Bamford & Oscar Read, Raghav Raj & Ishan Shah, Samuel Henson, Nathan Brandrick & Tom and Leonidas Koumouris. Troy Donovan, Tony Dunnings, Christian Hampson and Allissa Abrenica were their consultants. Proposals were supervised by Guillermo Fernández-Abascal (GFA2, GFA).
