LECTURE TITLE: Outside-In: A Square for the Novartis Campus
The Square is a collaborative architecture/landscape architecture project by Good Form Studio on the Novartis Campus in Basel, Switzerland. This is one project that can tell many stories. After providing a general background on the Square and the larger campus environment, the designers will discuss shared intentions, the limits of disciplinary work, and the organizational conflicts the project sought to overcome.
Biographies
Dorothée Imbert holds the Hubert C. Schmidt ’38 Chair in landscape architecture and is the incoming Director of the Knowlton School at The Ohio State University. She has taught at Harvard University and Washington University in St. Louis and practiced at Peter Walker and Partners. Imbert is the author of numerous publications on landscape modernism. She is also the editor of Food and the City: Histories of Culture and Cultivation and A Landscape Inventory: Michel Desvigne Paysagiste.
Andrew Cruse is an associate professor of architecture at The Ohio State University and a registered architect. He is currently a Fulbright Scholar at UTS. His academic work focuses on the evolution of human comfort and its impact on architectural design. Prior to joining the Ohio State faculty, Cruse was an Associate at Machado and Silvetti in Boston, Massachusetts.
